Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. The current president is and controlling shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and was raised as an heir to a prestigious family. Jerry Buss' father was an entrepreneur in real estate who went on to own the Lakers and other sports companies. After her parents divorced in 1972 She began feeling emotionally abandoned. She joined the family business at the age of 19 and became the general manager of the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. Later, she founded in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional roller-hockey team. She was the president at the Great Western Forum, before becoming the Vice President for the Lakers. Buss along with her five sisters and brothers, as well as their father who was the owner of the Lakers and was their controlling shareholder up to his death in 2013, took over this ownership through an estate. Each of them enjoyed the same the right to vote. In 2013, she took control of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also owner of a portion of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling group).
