Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name for Winona Laura Hoowitz who was who was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter after her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother are both authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father was from a Jewish origin.
